Wondering how that'd compare to USB drive performance. I've seen some threads here talking about a dmg image file mounted on my Mac for decent performance. Last time I tried, running any photo management off a NAS partition it was dismal. I upgraded to DS420+ and as part of the migration I want to combine the 2 libraries and clean up with Gemini, and go to a single library. I have a Mac Pro with 8TB local USB WD Black external drive formatted APFS w/ journaling with my photo libraries for Apple Photos and LightRoom (mostly redundant), backing up my old Synology NAS.
